14 injured after taxi crashes into tree in Limpopo
14 people were injured when a taxi veered of the road and crashed into a tree along side the R529 road near Letsitele on Wednesday morning.
LIMPOPO -14 people were injured when a taxi veered of the road and crashed into a tree along side the R529 road near Letsitele on Wednesday morning.
According to a information received from ER24 Spokesperson, Russel Meiring, emergency services arrived on the scene at around 06:00 to find the taxi ‘smashed up’ against a tree.
“Several people were found walking around on the scene while some were found still seated inside the taxi. One man was still trapped in the front seat and Provincial Fire Services had to utilise specialized rescue equipment to free him,” Meiring said.
“He had sustained numerous injuries which left him in a serious condition and paramedics provided him with advanced life support interventions,” Meiring confirmed.
The remaining 13 patients sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate and all injured patients were transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment, he concluded.
The exact cause of the accident will form part of a police investigation.
