POLOKWANE – Kaylin Duncan (17), took part in the Arnold Classics earlier this year and was the only person representing Limpopo at the competition in the sport of fencing. She won two gold and one bronze medal on the day.
She has been fencing for two and a half years and has just recently returned home after attending the International Junior and Cadet World Fencing Championships in Plovdiv in Bulgaria, where she scored points against some of the best in this sport and this is something that she is very proud of. Kaylin says that the sport is very unique and that there are not enough people taking part in the art of fencing.
“It is a sport that teaches a person a lot in terms of self defence, it tests your reactions and eye coordination and is just an all-round great sport,” she enthused.
She would like to see the sport grow and see more people from Limpopo, and especially Polokwane, take part in the coming years.
