Women play an integral role at Ocean Basket Mall of the North and that is why the restaurant is offering all women a free glass of wine or lemonade with each platter for one that they enjoy. The offer starts tomorrow (Friday) and ends on 18 August.
Owner Lizette Deacon has been in the restaurant industry for more than 20 years and she wants to make a difference in others’ lives, a trait that her employees value and respect.
Deacon says her mother, Hettie, is her biggest inspiration and support. “Without the strength and support of my mother, I would never have been where I am today. She has shown me what a woman of worth can achieve and encouraged me to reach for my dreams,” says Deacon.
As avid bowlers they travel the country and this has brought the reality of the need for job creation throughout the country to the two women’s attention. “I realised that job creation will play an important role in all my future endeavours,” she says.
In a world where women are often not recognised for their contribution to society, Deacon has created a work environment at Ocean Basket Mall of the North where women are seen as pillars of strength and admired for their leadership abilities.
Deacon is dedicated to providing only the best dining experiences for her customers. “At Ocean Basket we are proud of every plate of food that we put on the table. We treat all customers like family and the hearty atmosphere entices people to return again and again until they are like family.”
The iron woman is also passionate about community involvement and has an open hand for schools and educational projects. Ocean Basket Mall of the North is also actively involved in several local charities as well as with the Dyer Island Conservation Trust, a charity devoted to the survival of the endangered African penguin, as well as other wildlife conservation organisations. The restaurant also gives local musicians opportunities to ply their trade at their famous Greek Nights.
“At Ocean Basket Mall of the North we do not only celebrate women on Women’s Day, but every day of the year,” Deacon concludes.
