One person dead, eight injured in accident on Dendron Road

A taxi, truck and a hatchback were involved.

POLOKWANE –  The accident happened about 10km outside Polokwane this morning, 22 August.

According to an eye witnesses, the truck was traveling towards Polokwane, with a taxi behind him. The hatchback, traveling towards Dendron, veered into oncoming traffic, in front of the truck, and the taxi bumped into the truck, on impact.

The driver of the truck said he thought about moving out of the way, but as the truck is too heavy, it would not have been a good idea.

“The car just moved in front of the truck and I could do nothing.”

Traffic was regulated through a stop-and-go process and emergency services had to clean up an oil spillage caused by the accident.

The driver of the car died on the scene.

The traffic department have warned motorists of heavy delays and a road closure.

Motorists are therefore advised to use alternative routes.
