Eagle’s Nest explores Africa

An outreach group from the Foundation for Cross-cultural Education (FCE) from the University of Zambia recently visited Eagle’s Nest Christian School as part of their training to learn from other African countries.

POLOKWANE – FCE is an international, non-denominational, intercultural and non-profit mission training organisation and the group of 11 consists of nine students and two leaders from South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi and Germany who attended a course in discipleship.

Eagle’s Nest Vice Principal, Zhak Maloney, explained this training is in effect a predecessor of education training by the University of Zambia and added this training forms part of Eagle’s Nest Foundation for Farming outreach programme.

He said as part of the partnership between the Foundation for Farming, Eagle’s Nest annually visits various African countries.

This year the outreach group from Eagle’s Nest, a vibrant team of learners and teachers, visited Zambia and Zimbabwe for an international outreach programme during the July school holiday during which they conducted missionary work among others.

They were accompanied by an equally motivated and passionate team from the Rabone Christian School from Brits.

On 3 July, a total of 36 people travelled by bus from Polokwane to Zambia. They stayed at Kalungu, Uganda, for a few days and travelled further north towards Koti Ni Eden, Zambia. From there the mission went through Livingstone to take in the majesty of the Lord our God at the Victoria Falls. Later, they went to Pandamantenga, which is a village in the north-west district of Botswana.

The activities included camping, team building and helping the locals with various tasks. The group also undertook an 8 km hiking trail and took part in sunrise prayers and devotion, teachings, uplifting of the community and socialising into different cultures.
