Foreigner (28) killed during armed robbery on the N1 North, outside Polokwane

A group of armed suspects forced a Toyota Quantam off the road in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

POLOKWANE – According to police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, nine foreign nationals were traveling from Gauteng to Zimbabwe, in a Toyota Quantum along the N1 North.

About 20km out of Polokwane, a silver grey Toyota Avanza forced them off the road.

“The suspects shot randomly until the Quantam lost control and got stuck in a donga alongside the road,” explains Ngoepe.

The armed suspects searched the Quantum and robbed all the occupants of an undisclosed amount of money and drove away.

“During the shooting, a 28-year-old man was killed.”

No arrests have been made as yet as the suspects are still unknown, however, police in Westenburg have launched a manhunt for them.

Anyone with information which can lead to the arrest of these suspects are urged to contact Captain James Dikgale at 082 565 8566; the crime stop number 086 001 0111; the crime line sms 32211 or the nearest police station.
