Northern Academy Grade 12s stole the limelight as they walked down the red carpet in striking outfits during their matric dance held at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World last Thursday.
The event organiser, Jonathan Jacobs said the night was held under the theme ‘Rustic lights’ and he was impressed by the way learners dressed. He further said the theme was influenced by a video he saw of a lady playing the violin in a room full of lights and candles.
“The theme is all about nice casual and evening dresses. I wanted to try something different and move away from formal wear a bit. The video suggested this brilliant theme and I said to myself, why be ordinary if you can be extraordinary,” explained Jacobs.
The Batswana Dance Group treated the audience to great music and several parents were spotted trying to emulate the group’s unusual dance moves. The school’s principal, Rirhandzu Ngwenya emphasised that they had started planning for the evening at the beginning of term three and educators did a lot of work.
She said the parents also assisted in many ways and thanked them for their continued support.
