Swimmers from Laerskool Pietersburg-Oos (Oosskool) attained top results during the Provincial Primary Schools Top 10 swimming gala held at Polokwane municipal pool on Saturday.
Four hundred and fifty swimmers from primary schools across the province participated in the event organised by Limpopo Aquatics. Oosskool’s Ayden Jordaan won gold in the boys u.13 100 m freestyle with a new record time of 1:03.73.
The school also attained particularly good results in the relay items for boys.
The u.8 team of Adriaan du Plessis, Wian du Plessis, Stefan Meiring and Rijandré de Bruin won gold in the 200 m freestyle.
Matthew Johnson, Andru van Zyl, Felix Olivier and Ruan Potgieter won the 200 m relay medley for u.10 boys while the u.11 team relay consisting of Heinrich Meiring, Brendon
O’Reilly, Jadan Engelbrecht and Marinus Schrader also ascended the stage to collect gold for outpacing their peers in the 200 m relay medley.
Rob Anderson, President of Limpopo Aquatics said they were impressed with the talent displayed on the day. “It was a successful event which saw aspiring swimmers coming together and proving their mettle. This is the gala that breeds future swimmers and gives the top performing swimmers an opportunity to be scouted by swimming clubs and high schools. We are pleased to have hosted the event,” Anderson said.
