Learners awarded at joyful ceremony

PEPPS Polokwane Preparatory School and College rewarded its preparatory school learners for their academic and sport achievements during the school’s awards gala held in Polo­kwane on Friday evening.
Academic awards were made as follows:
In the Foundation Phase Zara van Kraayenburg was awarded for achieving 100% at the South African Council for English Education Challenge. The top achievers were Oratile Makhubedu, Grade 1; Wavhudi Bvumbi and Aisha Siddiqa Hassim, Grade 2; Kea Mnisi and Litha Ntobela, Grade 3. In the Intermediate Phase Dimpho Phasha was named Best Overall Achiever in Grade 4, Relotilwe Sekhula in Grade 5 and Gift Ogwu in Grade 6.
Aicha Mengouchi was named Best Overall Achiever in Grade 7.
Sport awards were made to Grade 3 learners Oby Orijako as Junior Netball Player of the Year, Boitshepo Raphala as Junior Football Player of the Year and Nuraz Tayob as Junior Cricketer of the Year.
In the Senior Phase Bokamoso Raphala was awarded the Sportsman of the Year trophy and Mamohube Moga­shoa named Sportswoman of the Year.
Congratulating the recipients, Julia Werner, PEPPS Preparatory School Head said they were proud of their learners’ achievements. She urged them to continue inspiring their fellow learners. “They did well throughout the year, they were consistent and they put in lot of hard work and we are very proud of them,” Werner said.
She thanked the parents who, despite their busy schedules, attended the event. “We thank them for coming to the awards and we do hope they enjoyed seeing their children being acknowledged for all their hard work,” she said.
