The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Limpopo is collaborating with Gift of the Givers to collect bottled water across the province to help alleviate the water crisis in the city of Cape Town.
In a media statement DA Provincial Leader Jacques Smalle called upon communities, schools, churches and the business sector to donate water as the crisis in Cape Town was unprecedented.
“We aim to collect a minimum of 35 000 litres of bottled water within two weeks, which will be transported from Polokwane to Cape Town by truck on Friday, 16 February 2018.
“This effort is aimed at ensuring that water usage is decreased in order to avoid taps from running dry.”
Those wanting to donate can drop off their water donations at the DA offices in Polokwane at 79 Hans Van Rensburg Street, contact a DA councillor in their area or send an email to larissav@da.org.za in this regard.
“Now is the time to unite to defeat Day Zero in the city of Cape Town,” Smalle said in conclusion.
