80 suspects arrested during joint operation

The successful cooperation between various stakeholders cleared the streets of Mokopane from criminals and law offenders.

MOKOPANE – The Mokopane police have a huge success rate on arresting 80 suspects over the past two weeks during a joint operation with Home Affairs, Department of Economic Environment and Provincial Traffic Officers.

Sgt Irene Masingi, Mokopane Police Spokesperson, said: “The arrests made are for various offenses like Drug Traffic Act and use of drugs, possession of marijuana, sexual offences, illegal immigrants, public drinking and drunken driving, operating spaza shops without licence, loitering, shoplifting, assault, fraud and Road Traffic Act.

“We beg the community to report any suspicious activity or law offenders to the police. To win the fight against crime is not only in the power of the police but also in collaboration with the public and various stakeholders”.

According to Masingi, 68 of the offenders paid admission of guilt fines and 12 appeared in the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court and remain in custody for further investigation. Report crime at (015) 409 1418/1419/1420/1421.
