Making Moves with sweet potato yoghurt

Kgarose Kgaros recently took part in an award-winning magazine show that celebrates and promotes young successful South African entrepreneurs, SABC 1 Making Moves

POLOKWANE – Edward Kgarose is an entrepreneur and the founder of Kgarose Kgaros, a sweet potato yoghurt production company based in Polokwane.

The 29-year-old from Ga-Molepo, Ga-Lekgothoane established his company in 2015 with the aim to create jobs for unemployed individuals. “I also wanted to make agriculture fashionable to the youth because there are a lot of products which can be made using sweet potatoes,” he said.

Edward and his company, Kgarose Kgaros, took part in an award-winning magazine show that celebrates and promotes young successful South African entrepreneurs, SABC 1 Making Moves.

“The journey started in August 2017 when I received a call from Making Moves to hear if I might be interested in taking part on the show and I agreed, receiving case study forms to participate on the show.”

He added the competition went very well for him because he loves challenges.

“There were 10 entrepreneurs competing for the R50 000 prize money. It was not easy making it to the top four but knowing and understanding your business and the sector you are in better makes every day of the competition easier.”

“Day one in studio, Pepsi grilled you in a one-on-one with questions, trying to understand exactly what you do in your business, how you make money and how u keep record. It is scary but you get comfortable once you are settled and you know your work,” he said.

On 12 February, Edward and his company were announced the winners of Making Moves, walking away with R50 000 after four rounds of the competition.

He said all it takes is to believe in yourself and work with what you have.

“You can only start worrying about being a professional when your business is off the ground,” he added.
