From Jozi to Musina: train service returns
Mass transportation system operator, Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) re-introduced train services between Johannesburg and Musina via Polokwane as of yesterday, 28 February.
POLOKWANE – The train will cater for Polokwane, Musina as well as for Zimbabwean commuters crossing the border.

“Shosholoza Meyl received inundated requests from customers, pleading for the return of the service. Management thoroughly evaluated the request and reached a decision to reinstate the service. This comes in light of supporting the Prasa corporate plan in transporting our customers at an affordable cost. All this can be experienced from as little as R100 for economy (sitter) class and R160 for tourist (sleeper) class,” Acting Prasa Rail CEO Mthuthuzeli Swartz explained.
The journey between Johannesburg and Polokwane takes eight hours and the journey to Musina takes 10 hours from departure. To ensure the commuter’s safety, security services will be available on the train.
The train will have a dining car which will provide meals and refreshments at an affordable price.
The train will stop at Germiston, Pretoria, Hammanskraal, Bela-Bela, Modimolle, Mokopane, Polokwane, Soekmekaar, Makhado and Mopani.

Train schedule:
Departure on Wednesday, 28 February from Johannesburg at 17:15. Arrive in Polokwane at 01:15 on Thursday.
Departure on Thursday 1 March from Polokwane at 22:35. Arrive in Johannesburg at 05:44 on Friday.
Departure on Friday, 2 March from Johannesburg at 17:15. Arrive in Musina at 08:45 on Saturday.
Departure on Sunday 4 March from Musina at 15:25. Arrive in Johannesburg at 05:44 on Monday.
