YES for entrepreneurship

POLOKWANE – Learners are always encouraged to think out of the box, to extend their hand in trying new things while still in high school in order to find out where their passions lie.

For Taxila Secondary School’s learners this all comes down to entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship and more entrepreneurship. Review spoke to a few of the learners to find out how they feel about being a part of the YES (Youth Enterprise Society) initiative and the heights that they would like to reach with the assistance of this particular initiative.

Youth Enterprise Society Vice-President Naledi Sebati: “It becomes challenging as well as rewarding when we interact with learners from other schools with similar interests. As Poroma has outlined, we get to share ideas as well as improve on our own individual crafts and ideas which is very beneficial for us as we would like to actually see our ideas benefit those around us in terms of improving their lives and the lives of those around them.”

Youth Enterprise Society secretary Pheldry Rangoato: “Honestly speaking I never thought I would be so full of entrepreneurial ideas and when I joined the society I saw myself manifest into an innovative and confident young woman. I want to one day help create jobs for people in my community so that I can help decrease the problem of unemployment and poverty.”

Youth Enterprise Society treasurer Fatima Patel: I have learnt a lot of skills that will help me become a responsible adult in the near future. Skills such as how to stay focused as well as invest in long term goals. I also learnt the importance of working with people and how to sell products to clients with confidence.”
