Energy FM gives two worthy students a bursary

The two bursary recipients Kedibone Sarah Motimele and Alfred Ndinannyi Mpilo are currently in the third year of their bachelor of arts degrees in media studies.

POLOKWANE – Energy FM has put a smile on the faces of two academically deserving students, by awarding them each with a bursary to the value of R67 000 on the station’s flagship Ashifa Breakfast Show on Monday, 19 February.

The radio station, most listened to radio station in the capricorn district, awarded these bursaries to two University of Limpopo students as part of an endeavor to bring change among the listeners and the community at large.

According to Energy FM Board Chairman Simphiwe Mdlalose, the bursary is meant to cover tuition, study material, accommodation and meals for each student for a year and also forms part of the station’s contribution towards the encouragement of the culture of learning.

“It is also aimed at helping those who are already in their final year, due to the ongoing trend of students dropping out while in their final stages of their education as a result of financial woes.

The competition ran for a week and was simple, we just asked listeners to send their name and surname, student number, identity number, proof of registration and results to us, and two most deserving students won.We are proud that we are making a difference in the lives of our listeners in many ways including through education, because it is a priceless gift,” he explained.

One of the recipients, Kedibone Sarah Motimele could not hide her excitement after receiving the good news.

“I will make sure that I complete my degree with flying colours as a way of showing my appreciation for the support. It has not been financially easy for me and I believe that this bursary will go a long way in helping me to realise my dream,” she explained.

Sharing the same sentiment, Alfred Ndinannyi Mpilo also encouraged people to keep their radio’s tuned into Energy FM and Choice FM to avoid missing out on such opportunities.

Mdlalose further explained that the station views these bursaries as an investment as they believe the youth will bring forth many positive benefits for the nation and more in particular Limpopo.
