Hawks welcomes hefty sentences handed down to members of cash heist syndicate
The four men were found guilty of robbing a Marble Hall cash depot of approximately R11 million in December 2015.

LIMPOPO – The incident in question occurred on 9 December 2015, when a group of armed suspects, namely Moshe Moses Mogashane (43), Ndwamato Jeffery Maphaki (53), Papiki David Komane (33), and Kgabo Elias Mpheroane (39), stormed into the G4 security company depot in Marble Hall, threatened staff and security and fled the scene with about R11 million, reported Hawks spokesperson, Capt Matimba Maluleke.
“These suspects were later spotted driving at a very high speed and a chase ensued until they were cornered in Pretoria and two of the accused, Mogashane and Maphaki were arrested and over R1 million in cash recovered. Further investigation led the Hawks to the arrest of Komane who was a police Constable stationed at Marble Hall SAPS and Mpheroane who worked for G4 security in Marblehall,” said Maluleke.
The group were convicted on 26 January 2018, on charges of armed robbery with aggravating circumstances and duly sentenced this past Friday in the Polokwane High Court, he added.
The sentences are as follows; Mogashane and Ndwamato were sentenced to 20 years imprisonment while Komane and Mpheroane each received 18 years imprisonment.
The Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Major General Thobeka Jozi welcomed the sentences and thanked all role players in the investigation. “We would like to thank the investigation team as well as the NPA for working tirelessly and earnestly to ensure that these criminals are locked away for a very long time. We hope these sentences will serve as a deterrent to criminals and also as a warning that their days are numbered,” she concluded.
