Birthday cake, songs at principal’s birthday

Acting Principal of Laerskool Ivypark, Willie Opperman, who celebrated his birthday on Sunday met with a great surprise when he was called to the school hall on Friday morning. Learners sang a song of congratulation and educator Douw Grobler addressed a touching message to Opperman. Learners each received sweets and the large birthday cake was taken to the staff tea room where educators celebrated.
Opperman said that he was honoured by the gesture of the staff and learners. “It is my 12th year as an educator at the school and the first year as acting Principal and I really did not expect this,” Opperman said.
