Need fresh veggies delivered to your door? Tebogo is your guy
Tebogo Motubatse is the brains behind the business 'Mobile Veggies Guy', in which he delivers fresh organic vegetables to your doorstep within an hour of your order at no extra cost.
POLOKWANE – Tebogo, who also goes by the name Bob, is bringing a fresh spin to vegetable shopping.
He is from a family with a farming background and he used to sell vegetables himself but he realised that he needed to come up with something that would set him apart from other people that sell vegetables.

“I used to be stationery selling butternuts from morning until afternoon but business was not booming because there were other people there as well who were conducting similar businesses. I had to find a strategy that would make my business different to the other people and besides, I had too much time on my hands and I started thinking of ways to solve people’s problems that they don’t even know that they have”, he explained.
That was when it hit him that people do not want to go shopping after work to buy the vegetables that they need to cook, and that was the beginning of his business.
He did some market research and he found that he was on to something. He started approaching businesses, building relationships and growing his clientele.
Initially he sold his veggies individually until he realised that he can do more in less time is he sold a package with various vegetables for his clients. He offers weekly, bi-weekly and monthly packages.
The weekly package consists of seven different vegetables for R90. The bi-weekly package consists of nine different vegetables, with an option to swap three vegetables, for R189.
The monthly package consists of 15 different vegetables with the option to swap five vegetables, for R300.
He has big plans for ‘Mobile Veggies Guy’ and he wants to own one of the biggest farms in the province to continue supplying his clients with fresh vegetables at their doorstep.
He adds that this will remove the middleman, people will get vegetables directly from the farm into their kitchen without them having to go through many hands, adding to the cost. He would also like to be the first black person to own a fresh organic vegetable shop that doubles as an organic restaurant in Polokwane.
Speaking about what he has learned in the process of growing his business, “Pride is not a friend. There is no place for an ego in business because you have to humble yourself and ask for people to give your products a chance. But you also need the ‘never give up’ spirit because in the end profit is better than a salary,” he concludes.
