Help to set up SPCA Polokwane’s ‘agility course’

The aim of the course is to get the animals at the SPCA active.

POLOKWANE – Animals need space to run but unfortunately, the animals at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty against Animals (SPCA) Polokwane, do not have the luxury of running and playing freely all day.

It is because of this that SPCA committee chairperson, Tania le Roux came up with the idea to set up an agility course for the animals. This will be for dogs at the kennels as well as dogs in and around the area.

Le Roux says the animals are cooped up in the kennels and can only get a few hours playtime a day. Other dogs are also, at times, cooped up in a small area as their human parents have to work.

“We want to set up a nice agility course on which the the dogs can play. This will offer them a distraction and they will experience less kennel stress,” she says.

The SPCA is therefore asking the public to help with donations to set up the course.

“We need stuff like drums, wood and paint, anything to help us set up this course.”

Le Roux explains that on weekends, the public will be able to play with the SPCA dogs on this course or bring their own dogs to play there.
