7 thatch roof buildings destroyed in Mutumo Trading Post blaze

Police say the cause of this fire is unknown but forensic investigations will tell.

BOTLOKWA – Police in Botlokwa, outside Polokwane are investigating a fire at the Mutumo Trading Post.

According to police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, security officers noticed 7 thatch roofed buildings on fire and notified the fire department as well as the police. On arrival, the buildings and conference hall were up in flames.

“Initial investigations revealed that seven thatch-roofed buildings burnt to ashes with everything inside and the estimated damage caused is over R100 000,” he explained.

“Anyone with information about this incident, may contact Lt Colonel Matome Makhura at 082 565 8611; the crime stop number 0860010111; the crime line sms 32211 or the nearest police station,” Ngoepe concluded.
