Modimolle traffic officers intercept and impound overloaded vehicle on N1
The 22-seater mini-bus was transporting 56 Illegal immigrants from Zimbabwe to Gauteng
LIMPOPO – MEC Makhurupetje has commended the traffic officers for a job well done. “Overloading is a serious violation of traffic laws and is one of the leading causes of serious accident on our roads. Your action has proved that you have zero tolerance towards crime and the flagrant violation of our traffic regulations.”
The driver of the mini-bus has since been arrested and is set to appear before the court soon. All 56 illegal immigrants are being deported to Zimbabwe with the assistance of the Department of Home Affairs.
This comes after a recent incident where the Limpopo traffic officers intercepted a truck transporting 87 immigrants from Malawi which was travelling to Durban through Polokwane.
