Limpopo warns motorists of high traffic, drunk driving on pay weekend
Limpopo is expecting high traffic volumes this pay weekend, with the department warning against speeding and drunk driving on the roads.
POLOKWANE – The Department of Transport and Community Safety in Limpopo has warned motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads this pay weekend.
As this Friday brings pay day along with it, high traffic volumes are expected today and tomorrow on the N1 Northbound from Gauteng to Limpopo, and around many shopping malls and centres across the province.
Drunk driving a concern
The department noted that pay weekend traditionally goes hand-in-hand with drunk driving, especially at night.
It stated that its officers have no mercy when it comes to speeding and drunk driving.
This week alone, more than 5 motorists were arrested on the N1.
