The SANBS is in urgent need of blood from existing donors as well as new blood donors.
This is according to Ipeleng Thetela, SANBS Polokwane Donor Relations Practitioner, who said currently there is only enough blood in storage for 1,6 days when the ideal is to have at least four days’ stock. “Every day people could die waiting for blood. Help save someone’s life. Act now and help prevent unnecessary deaths,” she exhorted.
She further said an urgent SMS has been sent to everyone on their donor panel, however it is crucial to get new blood donors on board too.
