Molteno endorsed to provide accredited training for Early Childhood Development practitioners
The Molteno Institute for Language and Literacy has been endorsed as a skills development provider to train and accredit students with an occupational certificate of Early Childhood Development (ECD) practitioner NQF Level 4 qualification.
LIMPOPO- The course has been fully accredited with the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO), which oversees the design, implementation, assessment and certification of occupational qualifications.
Masennya Dikotla, CEO of the Molteno Institute for Language and Literacy for 15 years now, who taught in a secondary school for seven years, has trained pre-service teachers for five years and is a trained Business Manager. Dikotla is a former Deputy Education Director of Research Triangle Institute (RTI) International for two years, Senior Deputy Chief Education Specialist Limpopo Government in 1996 for three years, Tutor at Unisa Polokwane for four year in 1996, Lecturer Northern Sotho, Education for seven years in 1996 and also an Educator at Nkoshilo High School for seven years in 1982.
Dikotla explains that registrations for the occupational certificate for ECD practitioner NQF Level 4 qualification are now open and the entrance requirements for the course are having communication and mathematical literacy at NQF Level 3 or equivalent and/or a second language at NQF Level 2 or equivalent.
Those with a matric certificate and/or experience in the Early Childhood Development (ECD) environment, but who don’t have a formal qualification (recognition of prior learning) can also apply.
“By enrolling in the course, practitioners will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and experience to refine their skills and advance their careers. ECD is the fundamental education which prepares children from birth to age nine with a solid foundation for future learning by developing them physically, emotionally, cognitively and socially,” Dikotla explained.
This particular course which is available in all South Africa’s official languages and builds on the prior knowledge of practitioners, focuses on acquiring knowledge and skills to work with children from birth to age five in Gr RR. This qualification enables one to facilitate the all-round development of young children in a manner that is sensitive to culture and individual needs (including special needs). “It enables one to provide quality early childhood development services for children in a variety of contexts, including community-based services, ECD centers, at home and in educational contexts,” he added.
Upon completing their studies, participants in Limpopo and Johannesburg will receive an occupational certificate for ECD NQF Level 4 SAQA ID 97542. They will be qualified to teach children in Gr RR and will receive 131 credits, which enable them to register for an ECD diploma.
If you would like to study towards this qualification, registrations are now open and close on 31 January 2019. To register, visit: www.molteno.co.za. For more info e-mail to precious@molteno.co.za.
