Miss Matlala gives advice to up-coming queen

Beauty with brains, a great personality and passionate about modelling, Koketso Mabapa (22) was inspired by the TV show, Toddlers and Tiaras, a TV show that follows the personal lives of families of contestants in a child beauty pageant.

POLOKWANE – “I fell in love with modeling ever since,” she said. Growing up between Ga-Thoka and Ga-Matlala in Vlakfontein, Koketso attended primary school at Dikolobe in Turfloop and Ikageleng Makobe, and proceeded to Motlishi Secondary School where she completed matric in 2014.

Koketso went on to study electric engineering at Seshego TVET College and completed N1 – N6 theory.

“I would love to complete the course, so that I can qualify to work as a qualified electric engineer. I would like to change the perspective that it is a male-dominated industry.

“If there are any companies that are interested to give me the opportunity to complete my practicals, I would be grateful and honoured,” she added.

Koketso started modelling in 2015 when she entered the Miss Summer Glam Polokwane and Miss Valentine Capricorn TVET pageants in 2016.

In 2017 she entered Miss Napjadi Turfloop, Miss Capricorn College Capricorn TVET, Miss Matlala in Ga-Matlala and Face of Polokwane, and this year she entered Miss Tibane in Mahwelereng and Miss New Beginnings at Sweetphops.

With all the competitions she participated in, Koketso won Miss Valentine Queen, Miss Napjadi Queen, Miss Tibane Queen and was first princess in the Miss New Beginnings.

She currently holds the Miss Matlala and Public Choice titles. She tells BONUS that she’s very excited and thrilled to hand over her Miss Matlala crown this month as her time is now over as the reigning queen.

“I had so much fun in my year of reign. I would urge the new up-coming Malatla queen to continue following her dreams of modelling and she should empower the youth. Most importantly, give back to the community as a role model,” she advised.

Koketso was further inspired by our very own Mrs South Africa 2018/19, Matapa Maila Rekhotso from Polokwane.

“This shows one to never give up no matter who you are or where they come from,” Koketso concluded.

The Mr and Miss Matlala second annual 2018 pageants will take place on Saturday, 29 December in Ga-Matlala, Ga-Selelo at Boritong.
