Women have it tough. The unwarranted attention from men can get overwhelming, especially when men use an approach that is over-the-top.
POLOKWANE – Here are seven ways that men try to get women’s attention that women find annoying.
Blocking a woman’s path when she is passing
Although men think this is a quick way of stopping a woman to get a chance to speak to her, it’s very uncalled for to prevent someone who’s on their way just to speak to them. Particularly if a person is in a hurry.
Cat calling
This is not a good way to get a woman’s attention. Whistling and hollering will not earn brownie points. It’s not only annoying but it’s disrespectful. Animals are called in that manner, not self respecting women.
Using pet names
For somebody who doesn’t know you to be calling you sweetheart and baby is not a good feeling. What’s even worse is when men try getting your attention by using physical attributes to get your attention. Saying things like ‘my size ‘ isn’t flattering, it’s irritating.
Using aggression
Some men try to hold your hand to get attention. For a man to touch a woman who doesn’t know them is wrong man to touch a woman who doesn’t know them is wrong on many levels. Not only is it disrespectful, it is an invasion of personal space and borderline criminal.
Being insistent
Following and insisting on getting a phone number It’s often said that persistence pays off, this is one of the instances where it doesn’t. If a woman says no, it should be taken as such. Don’t follow her and try to convince her to change her mind, of she was interested, you wouldn’t have to suffer to get her attention.
Cheesy pick up lines
Some women don’t want to hear how they must have fallen from heaven because they are angels. If it doesn’t make her laugh or smile, keep it moving. She doesn’t find you amusing.
An arrogant approach
Using the type of car you drive or the amount of money you have is not a good way to start. It not only comes across as boastful, it’s not going to attract a woman who is not interested in materialistic things. Men use this approach and wonder why the women expect too much, you have the impression you can afford it.
All these are annoying but there’s nothing more particularly annoying as having a man get refused or turned down, then being mean about it and says things like “you’re not that beautiful anyway”.
