Limpopo police launch manhunt for nine armed suspects involved in separate robbery incidents

The suspects were involved in two business robberies which took place in the Bolobedu and Mokwakwaila Policing areas outside Tzaneen

LIMPOPO – The Tzaneen Cluster Task Team has launched a massive manhunt for a group of unknown, armed suspects involved in two separate business robberies which occured in the Bolobedu and Mokwakwaila policing areas, outside Tzaneen, in the early hours of this morning, 13 January.

In the first robbery, police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe explains that a group of five armed suspects, wearing balaclavas, arrived at the local motel in ga-Maphalle village in the Bolobedu Policing area at around 01:20.

“The suspects then accosted an on duty security guard, assaulted him and tied him to the tree before robbing him of cash and a cellphone. They proceeded to the rooms, where clients were sleeping and robbed them of money and two cellphones before fleeing the scene,: Ngoepe explained.

Meanwhile in the Mokwakwaila Policing area, the local lodge in the Block 17 village was also robbed in the early hours of this morning.

“It is alleged that a group of four armed suspects accosted the security guard before storming into the rooms where clients were sleeping. The patrons were  robbed of money and cell phones,” he said.

The suspects then drove away in a victim’s Dyna truck (B9 23 AE N) loaded with bags of Mopani worms and disappeared.

“The victims in both incidents are citizens of Botswana. Cases of business robberies were opened for further police investigations and residents are requested to contact the police when they come across people selling mopani worms,” he concluded.
