Polokwane water supply disrupted by Olifantspoort maintenance

Water supply has been disrupted across several parts of Polokwane. Here are the affected areas and when residents can expect supplies to return.

POLOKWANE – Residents and businesses in several parts of Polokwane are facing water supply disruptions as urgent maintenance is carried out at the Olifantspoort Scheme.

Lepelle Northern Water began work at the scheme at 06:00 this morning (August 11), as part of efforts to replace valves and clean a contract reservoir.

The maintenance has reduced the capacity of the water scheme, affecting communities stretching from Ga-Chuene and Thokgoneneng to Polokwane and Seshego.

Several areas affected

Areas expected to be affected include Extensions 71A and B, 75, 44 and 76, Zones 4, 5 and 8, as well as Extensions 133, 134 and 127.

The work is scheduled to continue until 23:59 tonight.

According to Polokwane Municipality, water supply should gradually return from about 01:00 tomorrow morning (August 12). Municipal reservoirs are expected to begin receiving water from around 06:00.

Residents in affected areas are urged to plan accordingly and conserve whatever water they have available until supplies stabilise.
