Zimbabwean woman brutally assaulted and killed by her boyfriend near Marble Hall

The suspect, who fled from the scene before the police arrived, was arrested on Sunday, 20 January, in the Wolwekraal village

LIMPOPO – Police in the province have condemned the recent killing of a woman by her partner during an alleged domestic violence incident.

This comes after a 38-year-old man was arrested in connection with the brutal murder of his partner (30) in the Madikoti farming area outside Marble Hall. on Saturday, 19 January, says police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

“Residents in the area heard desperate cries of a woman, seeking help, from the nearby bushes and immediately rushed to the area. Upon arrival, they found the suspect brutally assaulting the victim with a hard object and they called the police. The suspect managed to flee from the scene before the police could arrive,” he explained

Emergency services were also called to the scene but the woman was certified dead. “Police continued with the manhunt for the suspect and he was arrested on Sunday, 20 January, in the Wolwekraal village.”

The deceased was identified as Catherine Mujalanga, from Zimbabwe.

Ngoepe says the suspect will appear in the Groblersdal Magistrates Court soon on a charge of murder.

“Police are once again advising people involved in domestic related challenges to consult relevant professionals in their communities for intervention,  instead of resorting to violence,” he concluded.
