
LIMPOPO -The Mahwelereng Police have successfully tracked down and arrested a 32-year-old man sought for a series of rapes committed since 2016.
Spokesperson for the Police, Col Moatshe Ngoepes says this milestone achievement follows an incident that took place on the 2 January 2016 where the suspect allegedly attacked and raped a 32-year-old woman.
“The victim was on her way home to Mokopane at around 14:00 when the suspect allegedly attacked her, held her at knife point and dragged her to the nearby bushes and raped her. He also robbed her of her two cellphones.”

The matter was reported to the Police who started with their investigations and tracing of the suspect involved until he was finally apprehended at Sekgakgapeng village outside Mahwelereng earlier this week.
The suspect has been positively linked to more than ten cases of rape which he allegedly committed in and around the Mokopane area,Ngoepe said.

“This should serve as a warning to all the sexual offenders out there that they will be hunted down and be dealt with harshly and without compromise unless they stop their heinous acts”, concluded General Ledwaba.
