Local stakeholders engage with minister on water crises

This after the city was without water for 14 days in December

POLOKWANE – Stakeholders engaged with the Minister of Water Affairs and Sanitation, Gugile Nkwinti in Polokwane on Thursday. This followed an initiative by Polokwane Mayor Thembi Nkadimeng to contact the Minister.

Several role players from the Municipality as well as traditional leaders, the business fraternity and other stakeholders met at Fusion Boutique Hotel where problems and proposed solutions were presented to the Minister.
Nkadimeng said the 5% annual growth in population in Polokwane exacerbated the problem and the moratorium on building due to a shortage of water and energy, stunts growth in the city. Problems with Ebenezer and Olifantspoort plants have led to the city being without water for 14 days in December.
