LIMPOPO – A 62-year-old man was arrested on Monday night, 11 February, during an intelligence driven joint operation, for manufacturing and concocting drugs.

Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe says the arrest was made during Operation Zonke, which comprised of the Tzaneen Cluster Crime Intelligence Unit, the Provincial Drug Team, Detectives and the Tzaneen Cluster OCC.

During the operation, a drug-lab was uncovered in a house within the Tzaneen CBD and the suspect believed to be the drug lord was nabbed.


“During the search of the lab, a high quantity of dagga and mushrooms, which were in the processed stage, were discovered. The estimated value of the recovered drugs is over R500 000,” Ngoepe said.

The arrested suspect will appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate Court soon.
Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, complimented the Saps Crime Intelligence Unit and other units who participated in this operation, for their exceptional performance on the eradication of the mushrooming of drugs in the province.
