In an effort to ensure that its Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget for the 2019/2020 financial year will meet with the needs and expectations of all stakeholders, Capricorn District Municipality (CDM) hosted a breakfast consultation session with traditional leaders of the district in the city on Tuesday.
Similar meetings were and will in due course be held with other stakeholders before all the inputs are considered and integrated into the final IDP/Budget that will be tabled for approval by council on 23 May before the end of the current financial year on 30 June. Other groups that are specifically targeted are sector departments and parastatals, NGOs, CBOs, business and academic institutions and the different IDP representative forums.
CDM Executive Mayor John Mpe delivered a presentation on the draft IDP/Budget and said that it is aligned to the six local government key performance areas, being Spatial Planning and Rationale, Basic Service and Infrastructure Development, Local Economic Development, Good Governance and Public Participation, Municipal Financial Viability and Management and Municipal Transformation and Organisational Development.
Some of the amounts proposed for expenditure are Revenue Management (R9 000 000). Water Infrastructure Repairs and Maintenance (R39 498 000), Operation of Waste Water Treatment Works (R4 000 000) and Management of the Municipal Infrastructure Programme (R230 788 000). Provision is also made for the building of a fire station at Aganang at an estimated cost of R9 000 000 for the 2019/2020 financial year.
