The first soccer team of PEPPS Preparatory School beat Laerskool Potgietersrus 2-1 in the final match of the Mitchell House u.13 soccer tournament at Mitchell House sports grounds to be crowned the 2019 champions on Saturday.
PEPPS’s goals were scored by team captain, Bolepa Kgomeoswana and Relo Sekhula while Shianego Lebogo converted for Laerskool Potgietersrus in the second half of the match.
On their way to the final PEPPS eliminated last year’s champions Mitchell House, Pietersburg Comprehensive School (PCS), Laerskool Chris Hofmeyer and Pieterburg English Medium Primary School (PEMPS).
Bolepa who had an outstanding final match said they were elated to finally win the tournament. “We prepared well for the competition. We missed it last year. We told ourselves that it was our time to win something for the school and we did. All the schools that we faced in the group stages were tough and we are just happy to have won.”
Headmaster of Mitchell House, Andrew Cook thanked all the schools for showing great sportsmanship during the tournament.
“It was a good tournament. An opportunity for aspiring young soccer players to showcase their talent. We are pleased that as a school we were able to bring all the children together to socialise and put their energy to good use,” Cook said.
