A clean-up operation led by Provincial Police Commissioner Nneke Ledwaba in Zebediela and Lephalale resulted in the apprehension of two suspects, one of which by the commissioner personally on the weekend.
Ledwaba arrested a 29-year-old man at Zebediela for allegedly dealing in dagga. The suspect was caught red-handed and a large quantity of dagga and money confiscated.
A Somalian national, 41, was also arrested outside Lephalale for being in possession of counterfeit cigarettes
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that Police stopped and searched a suspicious looking vehicle and found 11 boxes of illegal cigarettes. Police also discovered that the vehicle’s chassis number had been tampered thus resulting in the confiscation of the vehicle as well. The suspects are expected to appear in respective courts soon.
The operation comprised of various units within the Police and were supported by the Department of Transport and Community Safety.
