UPDATE: Vuwani serial rapist denied bail

The suspect was arrested on 20 May outside Polokwane after he managed to evade arrest in the Vuwani area

POLOKWANE – A 39-year-old accused, made his second appearance in the Vuwani Magistrate’s Court where he was denied bail, to allow for further police investigation.

The suspect in the matter appeared on 10 cases of rape and four of robbery and is set to reappear before the same court on 26 July, said Polokwane spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe in a statement on Tuesday.

According to a earlier statement released by Ngoepe, the suspect was positively linked to ten cases of rape and robberies which he committed in and around the Vuwani policing area between the years 2012 and 2015.

The suspect would target victims between the ages of 15 and 25-years-old during his reign of terror.

He managed to evade arrest in Vuwani and was arrested on Monday, 20 May during an intelligence led joint operation in Polokwane.
