Limpopo police seize explosives worth R975k at N1 Kranskop Plaza

Two men are due in the Modimolle Magistrate's Court after police allegedly found explosives in a Toyota Quantum during a stop-and-search operation at an N1 toll plaza.

LIMPOPO – Two men have been arrested after police allegedly found explosives worth an estimated R975 000 during a stop-and-search operation at the Kranskop Plaza on the N1 South.

The arrests were made at about 04:45 on Friday when members of the Waterberg Flying Squad stopped a white Toyota Quantum during a routine stop-and-search operation.

Some of the items police say are explosives, laid out next to the white minibus stopped at the Kranskop Plaza on the N1 South.

Police said officers searched the vehicle and allegedly found bags containing explosives valued at approximately R975 000.

According to police, the two occupants were unable to produce permits or documentation authorising the transportation of the explosives.

The pair were arrested on charges of transporting explosives and the illegal possession of explosives.

Police also seized the explosives and the Toyota Quantum allegedly used to transport them.

The seized items sealed in police evidence bags.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Modimolle Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
