POLOKWANE – Most of us love waking up to the smell of a cup of freshly brewed coffee, with some people only waking up after their first sip. While waking up to a warm cup of coffee is exciting, have you ever thought of enjoying the smell and benefits of coffee in the shower?

Owner, Ben Schempers and his barista brother, Pieter, say the idea has been brewing for a while after seeing a similar product in Australia that uses ground coffee to make body scrubs.

“We are into recycling and looking after the environment and we have been looking into using the used coffee grounds for something exciting. ” Pieter said.

Ben explains how the coffee grounds become a scrub:

“We make the espresso coffee as normal and we then take the used grounds and put it on a plate to dry. It gets dried in the oven too. After it is dried enough, it is mixed with salt, coconut oil and essential oils to make it smell nice.”

There are currently three delicous and exciting flavours available: peppermint, orange and coconut.

“Since it is quite rough on the skin, it is recommended you only use it on your body and not your face. I, however, have used it on my face and it was nice,” says Pieter.

The brothers’ have turned it into a family affair by having their sister, Hazel Mauro, assist them with preparing the product.

The Grind’s Scroffi is 100% natural and handmade.
