During the operation, the victim was rescued at a shack in an extension in the Seshego area, says police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe. “The 37-year-old suspect had already fled the scene but was traced and arrested this morning, 24 June, at his hideout around Seshego,” he said.
The 37-year-old’s arrest follows a report of a missing girl in last week, after she allegedly left home but failed to return. Prelimenary investigations revealed that the suspect is known to the victim.
“A case of abduction was opened against the suspect and he is expected to appear before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court, soon.”
Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, has commended the Cluster Commander and his team on the job well done in cracking such a complex matter within a short space of time.
