POLOKWANE – The municipality is urging all residents to use water sparingly in order for reservoir levels to stabilise.
This appeal comes as reservoirs within the municipality are still under strain causing water shortages in several areas over the weekend. On Sunday, Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala indicated that Lepelle Northern Water are gathering materials to embark on repairs to leaking pipes on the Ebenezer Line on 1 October.
“The municipality is urging all to ensure that they utilise water responsibly and that taps are closed if not in use,” he said.
He also suggested the following water-saving tips:
• Do not irrigate gardens or wash cars using hosepipes • Turn off the water while soaping hands and brushing teeth • Take shorter showers of five minutes or less • Never pour water down the drain when there may be another use for it, such as watering plants or for cleaning.
“Residents can report water leaks and other water-related challenges promptly to the call centre on 015 290 2376 / 2629 so that the water unit can respond and come to the aid of the affected areas,” his statement concluded.
