Polokwane Municipality’s project to interlink more than 200 boreholes all over the city is at an advanced stage and excavating equipment are observed along Suid Street.
Although water from the boreholes that were tested at source have been pumped directly into the water grid since last year, the municipality is now linking all the boreholes to a central point where purification will take place to ensure water quality.
On Monday, Polokwane Municipal Manager Dikgape Makobe said that this intervention will allow the municipality to have better control over the distribution of water to the entire area of supply.
“We will be able to detect when the supply from other sources are below demand and be able to augment the flow,” he explained.
