Cops on hunt for suspect(s) who kidnap(s) Westenburg woman

While residents are struggling to come to terms with the recent horrific ordeal of a 16-year-old boy who was allegedly locked up, assaulted and repeatedly sodomised by a man in his house at the RDP section of Westenburg, Police yesterday (Wednesday) reached out to the community to help locate a 38-year-old woman from the same neighbourhood who was allegedly kidnapped on Sunday morning.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that Maria Kekana reportedly left her home in Westenburg in her white Toyota Yaris with registration number CZX 412 L.
She was allegedly on her way to Polokwane to run some errands but never returned home.
At about 23:30 the same day Kekana’s husband reportedly answered a call from an unknown number and all he could hear was his wife’s desperate plea for help in the background. She alleged that she had been kidnapped and was being kept inside a locked shack at an unknown location, according to Ngoepe. He added that the call was then disconnected and when the husband tried to return the call it was directly diverted to the voicemail service.
Ngoepe confirmed that a case of kidnapping was being investigated and that a manhunt for the suspect(s) and the victim has already been launched.
