[TAKE NOTE] N1 near Hammanskraal open
According to Gauteng Traffic Police, motorists were advised to avoid the area.
LIMPOPO – Traffic has returned to normal after the N1 northbound road between Walmansthal and Hammanskraal was closed earlier this afternoon.
As at 16h45 info recvd affected N1 Hammanskraal reopened.

This was due to high voltage lines across the highway which obstructed traffic on both the north and southbound lanes.
Eskom's Babalegi/Pelly 132 kV monopole is on the ground and has caused a conductor to hang low over the N1 North highway around the Hammanskraal area.
The cause of the collapse was as a result of stay clamps theft.

N1 closed near Hamanskraal due to high voltage lines across the highway
POLOKWANE – Motorists travelling on the N1 are advised to avoid the area between Walmansthal and Hammanskraal.
This is due to high voltage lines across the highway which is obstructing traffic. Gauteng Traffic Police reports that grass is also on fire.



As a result, traffic is currently backed up and motorists are advised to use the R101 as an alternative route. The cause of the cables falling is unknown.
Police are currently on the scene.
