MOKOKPANE – The Municipal Manager of Mogalakwena Local Municipality is expected to appear in the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court today (October 9) on charges of fraud and corruption.
The allegations
It is alleged that the Municipal Manager approved a R4 million fleet contract and subsequently authorised payments totalling R24 million in connection with the same contract, resulting in a loss to the municipality.
It is further alleged that an amount of R230 000 was transferred to a company owned by the Municipal Manager, which is involved in fuel sales, as gratification.
