Westenburg rape accused to formally apply for bail next week
The suspect's lawyer requested that bail application be postponed so as to allow him time to familiarise himself with the case, as legal representation for the accused was only appointed recently.

POLOKWANE – The suspect in the rape case of a 16-year-old boy from Westenburg, which BONUS reported on last week, will appear in court on 18 October for formal bail application.

He first appeared in court on 30 September and then again on 9 October.
The suspect’s lawyer requested that bail application be postponed so as to allow him time to familiarise himself with the case, as legal representation for the accused was only appointed recently.
During court proceedings, the Westenburg community came out to support the parents of the boy, waiting outside. They alluded thereto that they would oppose bail.
