Two sisters kidnapped, younger sister released in Limpopo

17-year-old Mavis Manikie Tsheoga is still missing after she and her young sister were allegedly kidnapped while hitchhiking to school on Tuesday morning. Her sister has since been found.

LIMPOPO – Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo said on Thursday that a search operation has been launched for the learner from Lepelle High School at Tsantsabela village and two counts of kidnapping are being investigated.

On the day in question Mavis and her 15-year-old sister, Rancia Tsheoga were hitchhiking to school at around 07:00 when a man in a silver grey BMW stopped and gave them ride.

According to police information the driver tied up both girls and used his jacket to cover their faces. He then dropped the younger sister off  in Ga-Molapo village outside Zebediela and gave her money for transport back home, Mojapelo said.

Mavis was dressed in her school uniform, a sky blue shirt and grey skirt.

The police appeal to anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect and recovery of the victim, to urgently contact WO Salome Lebelo at 082 414 6674. Alternatively they can contact the crime stop number at 0860010111, the crime line SMS 32211 or their nearest police station.
