Polokwane Municipality closes for the festive season

The Polokwane Municipality will operate with skeletal staff from 23 - 31 December. Take note of the following numbers to contact in emergency situations

POLOKWANE – Spokesperson for the municipality, Thipa Selala says most of the departments will be closed in this period and the others will be run on a skeletal staff complement.

He adds that during this period the Revenue Section Offices and the Rates Halls will only operate from 08:00 to 12:00 and services at the licensing services section of the traffic department will be limited to renewal of licenses and discs only. No testing of drivers and learners’ competency will be offered.

Emergency and essential services such as traffic management, fire and rescue, water and sanitation, electrical services and waste management will be available at all times, he confirmed.

“The Point Duty Officers will be deployed at the busiest intersections within the municipality to augment the traffic management team,” he said.

Payments for municipal services can be done at Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Checkers, Woolworths, Pep Stores, Post Office, Spar or by electronic funds transfer (EFT).

The municipal bank accounts are available on the municipal bills for EFT payments.

Prepaid water and electricity can still be purchased at the vending machines outside the Civic Centre, all satellite offices in Seshego and Mankweng, Savannah Mall, Spar and the 7/11 store on Marshall Street.

The municipality also has the Smart Meter call centre where the public can be assisted with any smart meter issues. Contact them at 087 350 2770 or by SMS at 32195 (and you will be called back).

Municipal officials will be on permanent standby from Mondays to Fridays between 17:00 and 21:00 for reconnection after disconnections as a result of credit control. Contact the department at 083 301 3738 or 083 673 3238.

Customers can also use the self-service on their website www.polokwane.gov.za to obtain their statements at any time.

Normal operations will resume on 2 January 2020, Thipa concluded.
