Limpopo family says death is haunting them
The Ntsane family is fearing that death is haunting them, after having lost two family members in the space of fewer than five months.
LIMPOPO – In September, the family from Tsianda-Hamashamba, outside Thohoyandou lost Livhuwani, a young girl who died after a long illness.
Last Sunday, they woke up to the news that their son, Shonisani Ntsane (33) was stabbed to death during a drinking spree with friends.
The father of the deceased, and a former police officer, Meshack Ntsane said he was devastated at the news.
“We spent good times together on the Saturday and I never thought it would be the last time we’d see him.
A community leader in Tsianda-Hamashamba, Maine Matamba Mamuremi said the village was in mourning following the stabbing that led to Shonisani’s death.
Mamuremi, who is also the Secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP) Gwamasenga branch, condemned the incident and said people should deal with their differences in another way rather than to resort to violence.
“We are in the process of sitting down with young people around our communities to teach them about good morals. We used to complain with shebeen and tavern owners who do not comply with the 20:00 closure rule.”
Limpopo Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo said the Levubu police have registered a murder case.
Although the circumstances regarding his death were sketchy when going to press, it is alleged that an argument ensued which was followed by the stabbing.
Police investigations are ongoing, he said.
