A fire place of your own for Christmas

Make your own fireplace so that you have the perfect place to hang your Christmas stockings.

POLOKWANE – The Christmas tree is up, the lights to give a merry atmosphere are shining but where do you hang up your stockings for Santa Clause? A fire place is the ideal place but not everyone has their own one – until now. With a few simple steps, you can build your own fireplace for this festive season and you can even get the children involved to keep them entertained. You can go all out and make a big one or you could make a small-scaled one for a doll house or just another Christmas decoration.

You will need:

• Boxes of the same size (preferably white without markings).

• White paint (if the boxes are not white).

• Tape to stick the boxes together.

• Red or brown paint.

• Paint brushes.

• Masking tape.

• Christmas decorations.

• Christmas stockings.

Instructions:

1. Start with taping the boxes together in a rectangle or square shape by using the tape.

2. If the boxes are not white or light in colour and has markings on them, then paint the taped boxes white.

3. Use the masking tape to lay out the pattern of bricks on the boxes.

4. Use the red or brown paint to paint the boxes in between the open spaces of the masking tape to form the brick layout.

5. Wait for the paint to dry and then tear off the masking tape.

6. Decorate the fireplace with your Christmas decorations.

7. Hang up your stockings and enjoy your fireplace.
