What to do on your stay-at-home-vacation

You've probably been dreaming of this vacation for the last few months. But, you might not be prepared to fill your days with fun activities. Here are a few things you can consider doing.

Games

Board and card games are a staple of most vacations, be it at home or away. Make sure to unpack your favourite board games for hours of fun. A few popular choices include Monopoly, Risk, Scrabble, Battleship, Clue, Catan, Jenga, Twister, Pictionary and 30 Seconds.

Sports

Play golf, tennis or go mountain biking… or anything else you’ve always wanted to try – You may even want to join a sports club or gym for a few fun bouts.

Polokwane Golf Club

Pots, pans and plenty of pastries

Take a chance, dust off that old cookbook and scroll through that forgotten baking playlist you have stored on YouTube. Try out new and weird cooking skills you’ll never try otherwise. No time like the present.

Bake colored flower biscuits and decorate them.

Explore

Go out and try to find your town’s local restaurants and coffee shops off the beaten paths – you might find a few hidden gems. You might even want to take it a few steps further and look for weird and out there shops, discover a few great picnic and hiking spots, or search out alternative theatre or street music groups.

Improve yourself

Learn a new skill by watching YouTube tutorials. Maybe you’ve always wanted to learn how to draw, make arts and crafts, defend yourself, edit pictures, learn a new sport, or learn a new language. There’s literally a tutorial for everything out there.

Nap

… just nap the entire day – why not? It’s your personal vacation time and if you want to sloth around the whole day, who can say anything different?

Blog … or vlog (video blog)

Chronicle your entire vacation on sites like Instagram, YouTube and Gurushots. Learn how to do basic editing and ensure that people will love your photos and videos and want to follow all of your experiences. Then, throw away the boring bits.

Write

You can finally write that novel you always meant to write. You can even write a play or short film. Bonus points if you make your family and friends play it out.
